I have installed a wireless card in my desktop running Win2k, and the same in a laptop running XP, in adhoc mode. All seems to be OK as the laptop is reporting that the signal strength is excellent. However I am now stuck. What do I need to-do to share files/printer & broadband connection between the two. Thanks in anticipation Jon. -- Jon Frohmaier jon frohmaier |

You need to share the connection on the desktop - not sure how to do this in 2000, but 98se had internet connection sharing, and XP had a menu that could be accessed by right clicking on the connection to share. Then you need to share files and folders, again by right clicking on them and selecting properties and sharing (or something like that). You may need to have the guest account on XP box enabled, although I'm not sure. I only use an XP box to access shared files on w98se, not the other way around. Marcus Marcus |

I was just wondering are you using an access point as well, my friend is
setting his wireless network up and realised he has no access point, which is needed for the computers to connect. hope this helps "jon frohmaier" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:I2Ge8BT+XGm$(E-Mail Removed)... > > I have installed a wireless card in my desktop running Win2k, and the > same in a laptop running XP, in adhoc mode. All seems to be OK as the > laptop is reporting that the signal strength is excellent. > However I am now stuck.
