Does anyone know of a device similar to a router that acts as a webserver. A
device you can connect to a broadband router and ftp files to it. Basically a webserver but without the computer? Thanks, Gareth Gareth Evans |

Me too - just because it's not a PC doesn't mean it's not a computer. > I'd like to run a webserver but I don't > want to permanently leave my computer running. So get another PC and stick Linux (or a BSD) on it to run Apache. Unless you want to go for something like a Cobalt Qube. There were some of these on uk.adverts.computer a while ago for under 200 quid. |

There's a couple of Qube 2s on ebay ATM. Of course, it's still a computer :-) Not IBM-compatible, but just a computer running Linux. |

You may be able to find a cheap second-hand laptop that would do what you want. Perhaps one with a partially-working screen or keyboard. Load Linux on it and set up an Apache web-server. -- Bernard Peek London, UK. DBA, Manager, Trainer & Author. Will work for money. |
