are you running Windows XP on the laptop? if so are you using the XP
software?
I found that using the windows XP built in Wireless networking software that
it would drop the conection when i was right next to the AP, if there is ne
software for the Wnic i would use that, since i started using the software
for my compaq IEE802.1b Wnic ive never been dropped (unless i walk out of
range of course), my connnection has been stable as anything
