Default WPA2

Are there any plans by MS to update to WPA2 for added security or am I going
to have to replace a great router and cards? I really like the MSBN sysytem
as I have never had a problem with it and it works great. But I would also
like the added security (from what I have read) of WPA2

Microsoft dropped the Broadband Networking hardware and software more than a
year ago, Tom. I seriously doubt if anyone there is going to resurrect the
division, since it has been disbanded.

Thanks Chris, It's a shame, as I think they did a great job with it but I
guess they have other things to focus on.

I can only guess so, Tom. It is unfortunate. I liked the products, and
still use mine.

I agree with that completely, I still use MN500 and MN700 now and too bad MS
will not be around in this to give a run for the money to Linksys.D-link and
the others...

According to Barb Bowman's article at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...ssecurity.mspx
"Not all residential routers are capable of supporting the WPA2 standard.
For this support, a separate chip that handles AES in hardware is required".

from the sound of it, if the hardware wasn't there to begin with, it isn't
going to happen no matter what...

The MS base stations can't be upgraded. I was able to trick a MN-720
pccard to believing it was a Dell TrueMobile card (same Broadcom chip)
and get it to work with WPA2, but this was an experiment and not
recommended or condoned for real world use.
