First I like to say that my MN-100 has been good with me. I like this
router. The only thing I found odd with is in PPPoE mode and MTU being set for 1412 but since then I went to Cable HSI and in DHCP mode the MTU is back to 1500. I asked this before but I wanted to hear from a Microsoft person. Any chance that the MN-100 could have one more feature added called Traffic shaping (bandwidth shaping)? I have Comcast HSI and some areas have traffic shaping on but not in mine and in speed tests the bandwidth looks choppy when looking at netpersec software. (Basically you just add a category in the main menu called bandwidth shaping and have a check box to enable it with an upload and download box entry for the amount of speed wanted to limit I think that would be simple enough for many people) I would hate to go to another brand router just for this feature. In fact I'm sure others would like this feature and personally I would be willing to pay say $15 to add this feature to my present router MN-100 rather than pay 6 times that for another router. Thanks. Nikitas |

The MTU setting is determined by the WAN connection type.
Re: Traffic shaping, it's not likely that this will be implemented (I've asked about it before and it's not a feature found in most residential level routers). -- Jason Tsang - Microsoft MVP Find out about the MS MVP Program - http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/default.aspx "Nikitas" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:%(E-Mail Removed)... > First I like to say that my MN-100 has been good with me. Like you would ever see an advanced feature added to a router that has
been dumbed up for stupid people. I only use it because I supported it & learned to trust both the MN-100 & MN-500. Microsoft took away the manual firmware upgrade on the MN-700 because it allowed people to install the firmware update over wireless. This damaged several units that Microsoft ended up replacing. So since they dumbed up the MN-700 even more I don't think you will ever see that. If you want the traffic shaping feature you should just go get a commercial grade router, because you are not going to be able to find a residential router that does that. The router companies believe that it is a feature the home users don't need & are to stupid to be able to use it properly. Thus the ID10T's take the features away from the smart people.
