I have a D-Link router that works only barely to share an
ADSL internet connection in my homenetwork. I'd like to get a router that doesn't need so much day-to-day maintenance just to make it function. Are the microsoft routers compatable with ADSL internet connections? Benjamin |

That depends on how you get your IP address. Do you use PPPoE, PPPoA,
Dynamic, or Static for your IP address? Answer that & we can help you better. Also if your broadband ISP is AOL the hardware from Microsoft will not work as AOL refuses to use the standard TCP/IP stack that Windows provides, even though the one that Windows has is much better then the one AOL has. I use a PPPoE service. Unsecured websites load just fine
over the wireless link, but secure sites will not. The D- Link folks have told me that it is an ADSL issue and that thier router can't help me. Will the microsoft router support the shared connection? >-----Original Message----- >That depends on how you get your IP address. It can work with a PPPoE connection. the only issue is that most ISP's
using PPPoE will send a PADT that terminates the PPPoE session if you are not using it. To workaround that issue you will need to use the maximum idle time & auto reconnect features.
