I am attempting to configure my MN-700 as an WAP following the various
guides put out by Microsoft for secure wireless connections. What they all say is to configure the WAP to authenticate against a RADIUS server (I am using IAS in MS server 2003). However there is no documentation for the MN-700 that either a) describes how to do this, or b) explicitly states that this is not possible. All I need to know is whether this can be done on the MN-700. If it can, can someone post how? If not, is there a firmware upgrade coming that will address this? Much appreciated Andreas Mertens (remove the .nospam to e-mail me) Andreas Mertens |

The MN700 will not authenciate against a RADIUS server. Being a residential
class router, I highly doubt that this feature would be considered in a firmware update -- Jason Tsang - Microsoft MVP Find out about the MS MVP Program - http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/default.aspx "Andreas Mertens" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:%(E-Mail Removed)... > I am attempting to configure my MN-700 as an WAP following the various > guides put out by Microsoft for secure wireless connections. Thanks Jason. I kind of figured that was the case, but have not been able
to get a solid answer from MS Support on this. However I don't think it would be all that hard for Microsoft to add this as a firmware upgrade - if anyone at MS is seeing this...? I guess I am a bit peeved, as they state on the packaging "critically acclaimed high security) and support for 802.1x, WPA and WEP, but no where in any of their documentation do they clearly state that it does not support the RADIUS authentication. I would have thought that if it DID support Radius authentication it would
say so... There have been so few updates to the MN700 firmware that I would not hold my breath for much; there is a rumour that there will be a firmware update to coincide with the release of XP SP2 because XP SP2 apparently causes some problems for the router, but I would not expect any major feature additions... of course there is NO documentation that I have seen concerning the existence of the firmware upgrade nor it's contents, so one can always hope I suppose...
