Router stopped recognizing modem.

I have a MN-500 base station that has worked fine for months. All at once,
it won't recognize my modem.....the modem light on the base station won't
come on. The modem works fine, I can access the internet by by passing the
base station. I've reset the base station, but it still won't recognize the
modem. What to do?
