Every once in a while my computer cannot connect to the
internet. It gives me the "can't find server error" but then 2 minutes later is works. I am still connected to the internet because if there is a download in the background it keeps going but any new internet explorer windows I open up I get the "can't find server error". My router is the mn-700 |

Typically it's a problem with an ISP DNS server or simply
Internet traffic congestion. SOmetimes, you simply didn't enter the proper DNS settings on the router, or the ISP changed the DNS server. You could double check that the DNS settings for TCP/IP for your network card are set to be obtained from the server, and that you have the proper DNS server settings in the router as specified by the ISP. Finally, you may want to run Command Prompt and enter tracert domain.com (without the http://) for the web site you are trying to access and for which you are getting errors. You may want to retry several times since it's a sporadic problem. The results from traceroute should be in the 100's (100, 200, 500...) for each hoop. Sometimes there are * which represent simply routers that are not responding to tracert or timeouts. This will give you an idea where the problem is. If you get "Can't resolve DNS" from tracert, do a tracert to the IP address of your DNS server (or servers). The IP's are listed on the first page of the router. >-----Original Message----- >Every once in a while my computer cannot connect to the >internet.
