Constantly resetting connection

Have MS 11g base and 11g pcmcia card. I can be 5 feet
awat from the station with excellent signal strength, and
yet the connection gets dropped, and I have to manually
reconnect ("1 or more wireless networks are available").

What's up with that????

running XP pro, SBC DSL, and current software from MS for
these devices.

Any ideas?

1 or more wireless networks ARE available.

Go to your Wireless Network Connection (under View
network connections; Properties). Make sure the correct
adapter is selected and that your network is the
ONLY "Preferred Network". Remove all others. Verify the
SSID and WEP. Reconnect to your network. Click "OK".

With slight dilligence I found a bug report and fix that
addresses the problem I reported:

A pity that they offer no explination as to the nature of
the error, nor do they offer any explination of how this
setting might affect security.

Verify card and router are on same channel. IEEE 802.1x may
need to be unchecked. Finally, add your network SSID to the
list of preferred networks and make sure that the connect
to non-preferred networks is unchecked. It also helps using
an SSID that is unique, instead of the default MSHOME.
