Without making any changes to my config or installing anything new, suddenly yesterday I am not able to browse any resources on the internet. I can connect to other machines on my LAN, ping the router, and browse via the IP to the web configuration application. I've been able to disconnect and connect repeatedly, showing my external IP (WAN) I get from my ISP. I can also ping my external IP from a seperate connection (work)... leading me to believe it's not a problem with my connection. I've rebooted the MN500, reset it, and rebooted my DSL modem. Finally, I manually entered a different DNS server to resolve against, flushed the local DNS cache, and even tried to ping known IPs (like microsoft.com and yahoo.com) with no response (to see if it was a DNS issue).
The only thing I haven't tried is taking the router out of the picture to make sure it's not a problem with my modem or connection (plan to, but had to leave town and just ran out of time). Any ideas? Thanks in advance. AC |

This sounds like a Windows issue with all the troubleshooting you have
done. Which version of Windows are you running? I tried it from two different Window XP Pro SP1 (latest hotfixes installed)
and a Windows 2003 Server. I didn't install any hotfixes when the problem happened. Leading up to the problem, when I would logon to my computer, at times the connection was down and I'd have to manually go into the router web setting and tell it to disconnect & reconnect it. -AC "joker" <no-(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:(E-Mail Removed)... > This sounds like a Windows issue with all the troubleshooting you have > done. Are you on a PPPoE connection then?

Yes.
Last night when I got home from being out of town, the router wasn't connected (the router said it was connected, but I wasn't getting anything). So I disconnected it and reconnected, and things worked for about 20 minutes, but since then, I can't get it to return anything from the internet (even trying the method above). I checked the log and it shows no errors. I was also able to ping the router/modem from a connection outside my network. Because I can ping it from the outside, I'm starting to think the problem is definately the MN500. Is there any special advanced logging I can enable that will show me more info on each request sent and response? -AC "joker" <no-(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:(E-Mail Removed)... > Are you on a PPPoE connection then? > > AC wrote: > > I tried it from two different Window XP Pro SP1 (latest hotfixes installed) > > and a Windows 2003 Server. BTW, I ran a "check for updates" while I was online and it showed I had the
latest boot, firmware, and client versions. If you check your base station log after you get kicked off of the
Internet I bet there is a PADT that is sent to you from your ISP. The PADT terminates your PPPoE connection. To work around this issue you will need to set an auto disconnect & enable the auto connect feature. I suggest an auto disconnect time of 500.
