Default Firewall

Guys,

Anyone know of a good forum that talks about firewalls
and their effectivness. Because I have purchased a
linksys router and I'm not sure what lvl of protection
this router will provide for me even though it is
hardware!

David, if the box tells you its a firewall router, your
good to go. Just make sure you don't turn on any services
that you are not using.

Most Linksys routers come with in-built firewall. For more
info, go to their
website:http://www.linksys.com/edu/page8.asp

You can even have a combination of hardware and software
firewalls - a router with a firewall and individual PCs
having a firewall software..

Another good site on
firewalls:http://computer.howstuffworks.com/firewall.htm

You will find what firewalls are, how they work and what
they protect you from.

Linksys BEFSR41 and BEFSX41(with VPN) are two of the best
routers. Both have NAT protection and the newer "X"
version has dual VPN encryption protection. These are
used by some National Labs staff to communicate.

Remember, when you see the name Linksys think
CISCO...they own it.
