Wireless Microsoft network (11g) problem

We have a Model MN700 wireless base station and one
computer connected directly to the base station via a
3COM900 series interface plus two other computers
connected via your MN730 wireless interfaces. The direct
connect system is running WIN2000 PRO and the other two
are using XP Pro and WIN98SE. All have access to the
internet simultaneously with no problems there.

On the local network side, the WIN2000 machine can see the
98SE machine and access all files. The Win98SE machine can
see all other machines but cannot access anything on the
XP machine and it has file sharing enabled. The WIN XP PRO
machine can see only the WIN98SE machine and access files
there but cannot see the WIN2000 machine.

I'm not sure why the WIN2000 machine cannot see or access
the XP PRO machine? I don't know why the XP PRO machine
cannot see the WIN2000 machine? I have access denied on
the XP machine from the 98SE machine when the file sharing
is enabled? Can you provide an idea where the problem may
be and on the XP PRO machine or the WIN2000 machine or
both.

Are you running any type of software firewall on the unreachable machines?
Certain Symantec (Norton) programs, and anything like ZoneAlarm will block
access unless the program itself is set to allow LAN traffic.

I had the same problem and was not running a 3rd pary
software firewall. THe problem I had was caused by using
Microsofts own firewall. Once I turned that off all my
machinse were seen with out any problem.

Try turning on your guest account on the XP machine.
Maybe also go back to simple file sharing on the XP box.

The Guest account does not need to be active. That's asking for trouble,
unless the system needs to allow "guest" usage.
