Does anyone knows how to configure that router for port
forwarding ??? I want to use FTP server ( listening on port 21 ) but I have no clue what would I put in fields for private port and public port on permanent forwarding ( 21 everywhere ??? does not make sense ). I used to have a Linksys router and never had any problems. Also manual for that router MN-820 is nice and all that but no specyfic info on what would you actually put in those 4 fields. do I have to mess with anything else like port trigering. My Linksys config was : Port intl 21 to 21 , on port range forwarding 5000 to 6000 for passive FTP transwers. I'm sorry that this post does not make much sense but english is not my first language and I'm not a computer wiz. I would greatly apreciate any help I can get before I loose all my hair trying to make it to work. Mike |

Hi,
To configure a FTP server's port forwarding settings log into the base station management tool, then click on Security and then to Port Forwarding. Now click on the Setup the Persistent Port Forwarding link, and then in the description add say FTP. for both fields of the FTP put 21 - 21 Type: TCP Private IP address: the IP address of the computer that is running the server Private ports: 21 - 21 Now hit the add button, and then log out of the Base Station Management Tool. You're set and people can now connect to your FTP server! -- Gary Tsang Microsoft MVP - Windows XP Shell/User http://www.microsoft.com/mvp "Mike" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:844501c4041a$07387da0$(E-Mail Removed)... > Does anyone knows how to configure that router for port > forwarding ??? Hi,
You don't have to actually log out of the base station management tool for the settings to take effect. -- Gary Tsang Microsoft MVP - Windows XP Shell/User http://www.microsoft.com/mvp "JCH" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:87e901c40484$d6afdbe0$(E-Mail Removed)... > Gary, do you actually have to LOG OUT of the Base Station > Management Tool to have any settings take effect? > > Cheers, > House >>-----Original Message----- >>Hi, >>To configure a FTP server's port forwarding settings log > into the base >>station management tool, then click on Security and then > to Port Forwarding. >>Now click on the Setup the Persistent Port Forwarding > link, and then in the >>description add say FTP. >>for both fields of the FTP put 21 - 21 >>Type: TCP >>Private IP address: the IP address of the computer that > is running the >>server >>Private ports: 21 - 21 >> >>Now hit the add button, and then log out of the Base > Station Management >>Tool. >>You're set and people can now connect to your FTP server! >> >>-- >>Gary Tsang >>Microsoft MVP - Windows XP Shell/User >>http://www.microsoft.com/mvp >> >> >>"Mike" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message >>news:844501c4041a$07387da0$(E-Mail Removed)... >>> Does anyone knows how to configure that router for port >>> forwarding ???
