Default MN510 unabale to access internet

Running WIN98, have a 2WIRE SBCGLOBAL DSL modem/router.
Had second PC connected by wire through a hub. Bought a
MN510 wireless USB adaptor to move PC to another room.
Loaded MSN software driver. Looks like a connection is
made (green wireless light flashes at irregular rates) but
the PC does not recognize the home base - no other devices
on network. SBC says call Microsoft, I don't want to use
passport. any ideas.

The blinking means that it is trying to connect to the
base station, but with no success. I suspect it is using
wrong SSID and subnet.

Try disabling WEP first (on both the 510 and the router).
Make sure both are using the same SSID (by default they
are different) and same channel. SSID broadcast must be
turned ON on the router.

Also, check the network settings -- see if the 510 is
configured to obtain a dynamic IP from the router, no
check for 802.1x and using wireless zero configuration.
