Default USB scanner over a network

I just installed a usb scanner on a computer and am
wondering is it possible to share the scanner so that
others can use/run the scanner from their computer on the
network?

The scanner is an hp scanjet 3970
OS is winXP
Server is SBS2000

Unless HP supply client and server software specifically for this scanner,
no a scanner is not normally a networkable device. There are some scanners
specifically designed for networks, Epson make some nice ones, they start at
about $3,000 so unless you really feel like you NEED a networkable scanner,
it's cheaper to get a $50 scanner for each PC.
