"lphlpsvr" loads up at start up and will not allow itself
to be terminated. It has been found attached to my Microsoft Broadband - with what looks like my encryption WEP code and and "exe" extension. Am I hacked? Is it a virus? Is it harmless and legit? I'm running Windows ME -- have lots of crashes so I erased most game programs and related communications programs. I've run Spy Bot - deleting all spy and adware - and also run McAfee Virus Protection. Any informed ideas out there? Thanks, Carmen Carmen |

If it is lphlpsvr, you're okay. If it is iphlpsvr (note the I, not L at the
start), then you've probably got a virus on your computer. Check to make sure which file it is, and run your anti-virus software. Then I would suggest you use one of the free anti-Trojan programs like AdAware to clear your system. -- Chris H. Thanks very much Chris, I'll check on that (i vs l) and
run AdAware too. Sure have to install a lot software to keep assaults out. I've got Zone Alarm, Start Stop, Spybot, VirusScan, and now... AdAware. 8-) Keep your system patched with the critical updates from Windows Update,
and keep the firewall running. If you're on a LAN, you really don't need software firewalls because the router's hardware firewall will stop intruders before they get to your computer's software firewall. -- Chris H.
