Default Network Problems

I bought a wireless-g kit for my desktop and laptop. The
desktop is able to connect to the internet using MN-700
base station and notebook MN-720. However, I cannot
network the 2 computers. The computers have seperate
names and same workgroup (workgroup is spelled correcly
and same case sensitivity for both). I am able to ping
both computers from the cmnd prompt, but the network
wizard will not link the two togeather. I have also
connected the laptop using a network cable to the base
station with no success. The laptop has 3 network
connections (wirelss 720, LAN and a 1339. I don't know
where I picked up the 1339, but I am told that it is a
firewire connection. I do not have any firewire devices.
The internet connection drops out when I bridge the
connections, so I just leave all of them disabled w/ the
exception of the wireless. Any help would be appreciated.
