Default Laptop can't share desktop file

I have the wireless base station on my DESKTOP computer
and the MN500 in my laptop. I can access the internet on
both computers and the DESKTOP recognizes the laptop just
fine. BUT, the laptop does not see the DESKTOP in the
NETWORK DEVICES list (in the Broadband Network Utility)
and I can not access the files on it. Says I don't have
the necessary permissons.

I have already shared the drives, confirmed the same
workgroup name, and disabled my firewall on the DESKTOP.
Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Brian

You must have the same user name and password for both machines.

I finally figured out the solution after searching google
for 3 hours. Enabling Netbios on the XP machine solved
the problem. I'm now sharing files and printers.

Can you tell me briefly how to do that?

Thanks,
Brian

Default Re: Laptop can't share desktop file

Hey! I'm having the same problem, and after being on the
phone to MS for over 4 hours now I just gave up. My
desktop has Windows XP Home and my two laptops have
Windows 2000 Professional. I can access files off of the
laptop from the desktop, but when it comes to accessing
files and folders such as My Documents folders, it just
doesn't seem to work, and it says 'Access is Denied'.
Please can someone give me some suggestions because I'm
wrecking my brains out over this!
