MN-730 Trouble, need help asap.

Default MN-730 Trouble, need help asap.



I recently purchased a MN-730, MN-700, MN-510, and MN-520.

I have the MN-510 and MN-520 working correctly on the
network.

But the problem is with the MN-730. When I first got it
working it was perfect. But when I restart and Windows is
up it proceeds to be not-connected and unable to get a
signal.

The MN-700 and the MN-730 are about 1 foot apart. And when
it was working the singal was perfect.

I am able to get the MN-730 to work only when I uninstall
it, reinstall it, or uninstall the software, and reinstall
it, and many other combonations of uninstalling and
reinstalling. But everytime I restart my computer it does
not connect and I have to connection an ethernet cable to
be able to do anything, like post this message.

All my products are up to date, witht he most recent
patches.

I have been unable to do as the article, "To disable
802.1x authentication in Windows XP", says to do, but
because I have no signal or connection I am unable to
access the areas needed.

If anyone has had these problems or can help please tell
me ASAP.

I'm trying to understand what you've got going there, Daniel. Are you using
both the MN-500 series and the MN-700, or just the latter? On the machine
with the MN-730, are you on Windows XP, and have you gone into Network
Connections? Are you saying there's no icon for your LAN in there?

Forget about everything but the MN-730 and MN-700.
I use Windows XP and there is a Wireless Network
Connection icon in Network Connections.

What I am saying is that I am having trouble getting my MN-
730 to connect to me MN-700 and STAY connected.
Occasionally I can get it connected by messing with
different options, but as soon as I reboot it wont work
again.

I do not use any encryption, my channel is 6, and I have
DHCP enabled, and SSID broadcast enabled. I also use a
static IP (most broadband is correct?)

The only way for me to stay connected to the internet is
for me to connect an ethernet cable from my MN-700 to my
motherboard.

I have also made sure there are no IRQ conflicts and I
have tried disabling my onboard Network Card.

Since you say you don't use encryption, is 802.1x Authentication on by
mistake? Take a look in Network Connections, right-click your LAN icon and
select Properties. Then go to the Wireless Networks tab, highlight your LAN
name in the lower pane and click the Properties button. Go to the
Authentication tab, and make sure there is no check mark in "Enable IEEE
802.1x . . ."

You really should use at least WEP to secure your system.

drops out for now reason at all. Can you help.

Without a description of what is happening and your computer system, no.
8-) I have no idea of your ISP, how you have it set up or anything else you

I got off the phone with technical support and supposedly
got it fixed by changing the channel. But now ever so
often it will not connect on reboot and I have to go in to
the Software utility and manually connect with my base.

Well, that's partially good. 8-) Remember, when the computer starts and
the network adapter is starting, it does need a little time to negotiate
with the base station, identify itself and be recognized as an authorized
part of the LAN. It normally doesn't take too long, but this can happen if
you're loading a bunch of things on startup.

I'd take a look in the Startup folder (on All Programs/Startup if you're on
Windows XP) to see what might be eliminated. A lot of programs install
themselves to start when the system boots, "just in case" you want to run
them.
