I am running XP Pro on a new Dell. I installed a MN 510 USB Adapter which readily connected me to the internet through the wireless network in my office. I cannot, however, connect to our printer (a Canon copier/printer) because the TCP/IP Wizard (which launches as part of the Printer Wizard) cannot identify my "device." Others in the office have not had this problem. After failing to find my printer, the Wizard gives me a list of "devices" to choose from, but my printer is not one of them. I have tried similar devices that are listed, but none work. Also, the Wizard claims to permit a custom device, but when I input the same information that was detected (and is shown) on other computers from which the printer was detected, I still cannot print. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Go into Printers and Faxes, select Add a new printer, then Browse to the location of the printer. It should show as shared on the LAN. I'm not quite sure what you're attempting to do with a TCP/IP "wizard." -- Chris H. It would be very important to know what type of Canon Printer you have in your office. They vary vastly in the methods of connections. For example, a Canon iR2200, that does not have SMB(windows printing) enabled, will not be seen on the network, you have to install it as a local printer and use "Standard LPR Port" as the method of connection. In the above case, you would put in the printers IP address as the "Name or address of printer" in the LPR port wizard. (Verify that you can ping the address of the printer before doing anything) Please repost with more detail if the above does not work. >-----Original Message----- >Go into Printers and Faxes, select Add a new printer, then Browse to the >location of the printer.
