anyone know if microsoft is gonna fix the loopback problem
on the mn-700. they already resolved it on the mn-100 and
mn-500

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/br...tworking/readm
e/readme_fw_sp2.htm

i see this as a pretty big bug, or forgotten feature. i'm
gonna return it if it's not fixed.

Microsoft has not stated an information about providing loopback in the
MN-700.

Thats too bad. They fixed it on the older routers, don't
see why they wouldn't do it with this one. Besides this
issues the router is great, no other problems thus far.

The software behind the MN700 is different from that that drove the
MN100/500.

It's not a simple matter of saying Product A can do this, so Product B must
be able to too.

i understand that product A and B are not the same, but B
is an improvement from A, why would you remove a feature?
I had the mn-100 like many others, was happy with it and
wanted to go wireless, hence the upgrade...purpose of the
upgrade is to gain features, not to lose any. Needless to
say, the loopback feature is something rarely put in a
product description or spec. i'm not bashing ms, just hope
they fix it.

My suggestion was ignored. No response. No missing loopback feature
implemented. If it weren't for the fact that MS has the only robust uPnP
implementation, I'd have gotten some other router long ago (other than
the loopback issue, my MN700 has been trouble free since day 1).

Bob, I wouldn't say that it was ignored. I have no idea when you sent it
in, but there are thousands of suggestions sent to Microsoft daily via the
mechanism I listed. I know some of the product/program teams are (1) on
different projects currently and just save the suggestions, (2) might be on
vacation if they've just finished a lengthy beta (some last over a year), or
(3) maybe be working on the suggestion currently, but just haven't publicly
issued the information. The squeaky wheel . . . 8-)

Well, I never got a response from anyone (not even an acknowledgement my
suggestion was received), so from my perspective it was ignored. But
whatever. I'm stuck with the MN700 anyway because of the UPNP issue
(many of the commonly used applications and games that are used in the
household depend on UPNP in order to work properly).
