Default Exchange full - that's what Plusnet say.....

Have just helped someone sign up to Plusnet Broadband Plus (at their
request, not mine despite my pleas to the contrary) on the 19th of this
month.

The "order tracker" shows that the activation is still pending.

I phoned Plusnet to ask what was occurring, and they have told me that
the exchange (Hailsham, East Sussex) is at capacity, so we have to wait
until a) further capacity is installed, or b) someone cancels and frees
up space.

I find it hard to believe this is the case, but have no way yet of
disproving such, so, can anyone confirm this is a likely scenario?

I've tried 'samknows.com' but the information seems to be quite dated.

I do have a contact in BT Planning who is going to try and find out more
for me too, but he said he would be very surprised if this was the case,
although couldn't rule it out.

The Broadband resource seems to indicate the exchange isn't blocked:

http://www.samknows.com/broadband/ex...?ecode=SDHLSHM

Yes, but as I mentioned, the data seems somewhat old now, namely August.

Quite possible. The BT database is notoriously out of date and inaccurate.I
cannot see how it would be in any ISP's interest to lie about it.

Perhaps the gods of broadband are smiling on your friend and another
supplier will have a different answer ;-)

This is probably what you need.

Thus it would seem, exposing yet another lie from Plusnet to a customer?
Thanks Harry.

I did post a reply which seems to have disappeared in to the ether in
which I suggested that

http://usertools.f9.net.uk/exchanges...&plugin=gosell

was probably what you needed to look at. This was last updated in August
which agrees with samknows (not surprising as they get their information
from the same source). It's quite possible that between then and now the
situation has changed.

I can't see why PN would want to lie about this. If you are so
determined to think that Plusnet are in the wrong, why not try another ISP?

Its more likely the usual Plu$net incompetence than a lie in this case.
