Apart from the 'obvious' speed difference (54mbps and 108mbps) , is there
any other major difference between the DG834G MkII and the DG834GT? The reason I ask, is because I want to replace a DG834G, and wonder if it would be a wise move to buy the turbo model to replace it? I use the wireless side constantly for transferring large files, so the speed difference would make an improvemnt here. Is there anything I need to know about the DG834GT (compared to the G model, would be most welcome). I really would like to place the order today, so if you know of any problems, please drop me a reply. Barry T |

Barry, I have the G version, which is fine now I'm at the fifth firmwar upgrade. I understand the T has ADSL2+ support with new firmware. Cheers, Jane Moc -- mochj |

And are they identical in looks? Has the GT adopted the silver colour of the older MkI DG834/G unit? Thanks |

Is anyone successfully running it with WPA-PSK security? Barry |

I believe the GT might have a slightly more powerful processor. I can't say for certain. I have heard it said that the Gv2 has a slightly more powerful processor than the older G but again, I can't say for certain. What I can say for certain is that the G's are both rock solid with the new firmwares (and support ADSL2+) whereas the GT, a newer model, had some considerable flakiness issues with its first firmware (it uses different firmware than the G's). I believe they've made good strides with more recent firmware, though whether or not they have made it as solid as the G's have become I couldn't say as I don't have one. |

You can enable debug mode on these routers by entering the URL http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?todo=debug This enables telnet in to a Linux shell where the command "cat /proc/cpuinfo" shows the processor information. For a DG834G this reports it is a MIPS 4KEc V4.8 at a (Linuxspeak) speed of 149.91 BogoMIPS. |
