My BT line was adsl enabled 18 months ago and I have had ongoing
problems with connecting to the service - typically when the SNR drops <3db as reported by either my adsl router or voyager modem, depending on which is connected. I gave up with the AOL / BT / Indian call centre run-around a while back but that is another story. In the course of experimenting with the connections at the BT socket I have found that when the modem "drops out" I can restore the connection by reversing the twin incoming bt wires. At the moment these are connected directly to an in-line adsl filter, but I am considering fitting a dpdt switch when I reassemble everything with a new master socket. I wonder if anyone can explain this? john johntyers@btinternet.com |

I am wondering if the disconenction part of the reversal is the key. I have tried both rebooting the modem and disconnecting/reconnecting
the bt wires from the filter and this very rarely makes a difference. john |
