I'm trying to install a wireless network in my Win 98 PC.
After following the Linksys directions the PC still does not show the network icon (so it appears no s/w was installed and the hardware is not recognized). Only thing I can see is the network specifies Win 98 SE and I may have Win 98. Is there any way I can get this to work w/o changing my OS? Linda |

Probably not. If the manufacturer specified Windows 98 SE they probably did
so for a reason. -- Richard G. Harper ((E-Mail Removed)) MVP Win9x * Please post all messages and replies in the newsgroup so that * all may benefit. My Netgear WiFi Access Point alos specified 98SE and I have definitely got 1st Edition and it works fine. Normally I've just found that the manufacturers just do not offer support for 1st edition. I've got a Linksys USB WiFi adapter, for some reason I find I have to unplug it then replug in in to get the icon to show and sometimes I have to actually RUN the program rather than it run automatically. Mine works fine, but I have to plug in the card AFTER the PC is up and
running. Then it works. I'm using a WPC11 though. I'd be interested to know how you got your's running. I
have a laptop running Win 98SE and have been trying to get a Linksys WPC11 wireless card communicating with the router. The power indicator is on but it won't make a connection -- I also just tried your method of inserting the card after the laptop is powered up. Did you have to tweak the system at all? >-----Original Message----- >Mine works fine, but I have to plug in the card AFTER the PC is up and >running. Then it works.
