Default mapping network drive

I tried that, still gives me the same error message?
Here is your response:
That's the way Win9x works. There is no help. Win 98 will only
go to
\\ComputerName\ShareName. Mapping to
\\ComputerName\ShareName\OtherDir\OtherDir is something
new to Windows XP.
Try mapping to \\ComputerName\ShareName and then create
a short cut to
\\ComputerName\ShareName\OtherDir\OtherDir

Here is my response to it:
I tried creating a shortcut, it doesn't work. I'm trying to access
TM.exe, so I created a shortcut in C on the xp computer. I
tried to access that shortcut using \\dell\c. the shortcut is in C

Here is my original message
When I map a network drive with the XP Pro, no problem.
When I try mapping with the 98, big problems. It says system
ID not defined or blank. If TM.INI file exists, it must include an
entry for system ID. Please make sure the following path is
valid: It gives the path, and it is valid. When I try to map the
network drive //dell/c/tmwin/tmwin/programs, that is listed fine
for the xp. When I try to list it that way on the 98, it will only
go //dell/c
Please help

Default mapping network drive

I think what he was saying is first map to \\dell\c or
whatever. Let's say you mapped the drive letter S: to
\\dell\c. Now, on the 98 box, make a shortcut to
S:\tmwin\tmwin\programs. You do not need to make a
shortcut on the machine that is sharing the resource, make
it on the machine trying to access the resource. If you do
not want to make a shortcut and instead want to go
directly to the //dell/c/tmwin/tmwin/programs folder, why
don't you just share out the "programs" folder and map
directly to that rather than sharing out the entire C:
drive? then your mapping would be \\Dell\programs (or
whatever you named the share for the
c:\tmwin\tmwin\programs folder.

Hope that helped.
