I have recently setup a private network at home and my
router is asking for the private and public port numbers in the virtual server setup... How do get these? Fred Hervieux |

You only need to define port numbers if you're opening holes in the router's firewall to let other Internet users access servers running on your network. Most people don't run any servers, and cable modem companies generally forbid running most types of servers. If you'll tell us what servers you're running, someone can probably tell you what ports they use. -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
