Ethernet via electrical plug sockets in home?

Hi,

Anyone any experience of network products which allow you make ethernet
connections via power sockets in the wall? Reliable? Good for online play
with PS2/Xbox? Recommendations?

It;s a BT Home offering. Speed is limited to 1Mb so faster than your
ADSL connection but 1/10 speed of a normal LAN. Useful if you want to
share only the ADSL and not data from other PC's. Much more expensive
than a 54Mb wireless LAN and not a well used standard.

well, i went ahead and bought the ACER HOMEPLUG KIT (2 x adaptors) from
ebuyer for £50 plus VAT.

not much to say other than i plugged them in and they worked. comes with
software to set the passwords for the adaptors, useful if u live in a flat i
guess.

speed is around 10mbits/sec or so it claims. now sharing bb and very happy


i tried wireless once but got evil headaches. the other option was pulling
up 3 sets of carpets and laying a cable. so i'm quite pleased with this
solution
