BT Broadband in connection with Fax

Our fax machine, filtered out from the ADSL sometimes disconnects half
way through a transmission. Changing the filters does not make a
difference, nor using an other fax machine. BT claim it is a hardware
problem (fax)
Anyone else experienced the same problem?
