I have a linksys wireless usb adapter installed on a
windows 98se machine. There are no driver/irq conflicts in device manager. There is plenty of signal from the router. When I try to pull an IP adress I keep getting the windows default for no DHCP (169.xxx.xx.xx). the router is straight out of the box with all factory defaults set. the computer that's hardwired has no problems can access the internet with no problem. Any Ideas?? Tommy Williams |

Do the USB adapter and the wireless router have identical WEP encryption settings? -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
