Default Opening port 4000 on netgear DG814.........



i have this router, just wondering how id open this port, any one help.

cheers

also is there any sites u can use to show if the port is open and being
forwarded to my pc.

The one I have here has a dead phone line, but the setup screens work (I
use the unit as a 10/100 switch :-) Looking down the left menu, you'll
find "Port Forwarding" (under "Advanced") and you'll need to use "custom
service" which will then prompt you for the port range, local IP to send
data to, and your own name for the service.

You may find "Shields Up!" www.grc.com lets you enter ports. HTH, Peter

Yes, that's about the right noise from the PC firewall when it detects the
packet from grc.com... or did you have something useful to contribute ?

I'll be happy to be corrected, but I'd have thought something sent to
a router, if it was forwarding for that port, would be detectable...
