Background:
Just moved into a new house in Frome. About 1 year ago, the house was converted from a single house into a semi-detached. There is a Telewest cable running along the pavement outside the house and the neighbours think that when they did the house conversion, cables were routed across the garden (although I can't find them). I'm trying to get Telewest to install broadband but apparently their database only shows the old un-converted house at my address (and they have an active connection for this address going to my neighbours). According to the Telewest 'broadband consultant', they aren't allowed to make any changes to the database or make any new connections since 1 April this year. Does anyone have any idea how I can persuade them to install broadband for me? The services I'd like would give over 1000gbp/year to Telewest but they just don't seem to be interested. Other points: Frome is about to be enabled for ADSL and Telewest have plastered the town with huge adverts to take up their broadband connections. Is there an e-mail address for someone who can actually make a sensible decision rather than just repeating the official company line. Ta Mark Mark |

Once its installed its just a case of getting them to send the bills to the right address ![]() Ben -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.1 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQE/YFQBSSlUOsdA9FURAj+BAJ0exdI9TSDKsH9wCiKtx4ekz326jw CgiU3D L4pI/ktPQtVm/dKdwU5gSUs= =5r+F -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

No promises, but e-mail me all the details and I'll ask one of the sales team to look into it. Well you could just enter into a private arrangement with your neighbour to
share the connection. Telewest can hardly object as to them "you do not exist" - if they do then *they* are in a Catch-22 situation! You won't get any sense out of Telewest. A bunch of arrogant, incompetent tossers is probably the best way to describe them. Wait for ADSL. It's cheaper, faster and you can change your ISP if you get any problems. I can't think of any good reasons for going with Telewest if you have the choice. |

It's the arrogance of the monopoly at work. The trouble is, that's rapidly changing. It won't be long before there are no areas of the country that have cable but no ADSL, then things may change. |
