The technology is known as TPON and is incompatible with ADSL. However, all is not lost. When this service was put in, BT also ran some copper wires back to most exchanges to support services such as redcare. Many of these copper pairs are now being reserved for broadband provission in TPON area's. If yours is one of these exchanges, and ADSL may be available in the future, it will be listed here http://makeashorterlink.com/?U5B921BB5. AFAIK, this is the most upto date list of the status for these exchanges, so if yours is listed, you may be lucky. If you are not listed here, then either your exchange is not a TPON system, or BT have not yet assessed its suitability for ADSL. -- Martin Martin Cooper |

A friend of mine lives in one of those areas that shows as "Limited capacity exists", BT admitted to him that his local box has copper available, but refused point blank to use it as "If you get it then everyone else will want it". Makes you wonder what they are up to really Steve |
