I'm trying to set up a two computer network to include access to my
C86. The "main" PC, to which the printer is attached, is a WinXP HOme desktop. The other is an elderly laptop running W98. They are networked through a Linksys ADSL wired router and both can "see" each other and share allowed files. The laptop can also "see" the Epson printer on the other PC (sharing is enabled). The printer works fine on both PC's in standalone mode. What I'm trying to do is to "install" the networked printer on the laptop. I looked first at installing additional drivers on the WinXP computer, but when it asked for the Win98 disk to be loaded I decided to do it the other way and install the drivers on the laptop. I went through the procedure again and eventually it told me that a driver was already installed and recommended using it. Great! But on clicking OK I got: This printer could not be installed. Quit all programs, restart Windows............... If the problem persists, contact your system administrator. IPX protocols have been removed BTW. Well, it does persist! Any kind advice would be welcomed! -- John Gruffydd (Mold, Wales, UK) beryl@coedana.plus.com |
