Hi,
I have heard there is IP tracking software that you can put on the network to watch where users are going and doing on the internet. I don't remember any of the software titles that let me do is. Can you guys list a few for me. Any free ones on the net that I can try? I heard that in your firewall you can log IP activity but don't know how to do this. We have a cisco Pix firewall attached to internet. Thanks, Pete Pete |

You will need to enable trap logging in the PIX and log warnings to see what the access lists are doing. Your original question seems to point to a product like Websense (the most expensive, this is the cadillac of surf control products). Based on your second post to this group I believe Microsoft SBS would be the best for you. It includes Exchange and I believe the Microsoft firewall/proxy/surf control product. You may want to look into that. -- Regards, Michael Holzemer No email replies please - reply in newsgroup Learn script faster by searching here http://www.microsoft.com/technet/com...r/default.mspx |

Hi Mike,
That is exactly what we have is SBS prem 2003 but I am nervous about installing ISA because from what I heard when first installed it shuts down all port activity to outside world and needs to be configured to have the necessary ports reopened. Also on MS SBS 2003 newsgroup, the help you get there is terrible. Nothing compared to the help you get here. Totally disgusted with SBS 2003newsgroup help. > If I could get better help than Iwould install ISA for I hear its pretty good. There are a number of SBS groups and the help is usually quite good, so I'm not sure what issue you've had with that. There is also an ISA group, but there are idiosyncracies to running ISA on SBS that the SBS folks are best prepared to explain. It's not rocket science, but you do need to configure it. ISA is a good way to go. I agree with Jeff's comments. ISA can do some
"reporting" but isn't meant to report on every little "jot & tittle" that the users do,...that requires special software designed and dedicated for that purpose. SurfControl (www.surfcontrol.com) would be one example. BTW - Jeff!,..did I just talk to you at the VMP Summit, or was that some other Jeff? I ran accros so many people I can keep tham all straight. -- Phillip Windell [MCP, MVP, CCNA] www.wandtv.com "Pete" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:1ad9001c41f1f$deaa5a90$(E-Mail Removed)... > Hi Mike, > > That is exactly what we have is SBS prem 2003 but I am > nervous about installing ISA because from what I heard > when first installed it shuts down all port activity to > outside world and needs to be configured to have the > necessary ports reopened.
