Default VNC under VPN

In my job, we have a VPN server that connects ours clients to our network.
It's today is used to sharing some files with a client and my enterprise.

We want to use a VNC-like software to access and control the desktop of some
clients, to do help. Can I simple use the VNC client to connect to the ip of
the client in VPN-way?

Exemple: My VPN server have the IP 192.168.0.1, my machine have the IP
192.168.0.10 and a client connected with VPN receive a IP 192.168.0.100 in
my lan. I can access the VPN server in client machine using the IP
192.168.0.100? If not, any ideia?

Thanks for all!

Hi Max,

Thank you for posting here.

It should work since the client will be the same as a intranet computer
after the VPN connection is established. Please check if the IP address you
received from the VPN server is correct and confirm that you can ping the
file server by IP address.

Also, please make sure that there is no firewall on the file server or any
router between the two computers.

Hope this helps!

Jack,

With NAT-T and Win2k3, I should be enabled to connect using a router, not?
For example, if my VPN Server is protected for a router in internet link, I
should connect with no problems. It's correct?

Hi Max,

Thank you for the reply!

Yes, you can connect to the VPN server via router or firewall program.
However, you may need to confirm that the port for the VNC program you use
is opened between the two computers. For example, to use terminal services,
you need to open the port 3389 on the router or firewall program between
the two computers even the router of the VPN server does not block you.

This is the same as the usage of a intranet. If you enable a firewall
program or use a router on the other client computer to block the posts,
the VNC will not work.

Hope this helps!
