I really need help with this one. Network is running
fine. Server can not see clients but can ping to them. Clinents can not see or ping the server. This is a new setup and I'm a newbie. Domain and AD set up and check out fine using admin tools. What am I doing wrong? Help! This is the error I get when I try to change the NIC from workgroup to domain membership. "The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain domain.local: The error was: "DNS name does not exist." (error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR) The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.domain.local Common causes of this error include the following: - The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS. - One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child zone: domain.local local .. (the root zone) For information about correcting this problem, click Help." WaltG |

Your DNS setting on all clients MUST be pointing to the server hosting your
Active Directory namespace, not your ISP. If they already are, make sure you have the SVR records in your forward lookup zone. As you have stated the DNS is already pointed at the
server and the SRV is in the forward lookup zone. Question: Is the server suppose to be able to see the clients on the network even if they have not logged in? If so then I can not see them but can ping them. >-----Original Message----- >Your DNS setting on all clients MUST be pointing to the server hosting your >Active Directory namespace, not your ISP. > >If they already are, make sure you have the SVR records in your forward >lookup zone. > > >"WaltG" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message >news:2c8601c3fcc1$5f3da8f0$(E-Mail Removed)... >> I really need help with this one.
