Hi everyone,
I have a two computer netowrk. One, a windows XP with dial up internet connection, and another windows 98 without internet. ok. So here's the problem. I have a good network where I can share files, share printers and a scanner, but the only problem is, I can't get internet sharing to work! I've called the microsoft help line a few times, and they led me to this place. Let me explain what I've tried. I downloaded AnalogX, installed it, then did everything it told me to in the cotepad file. I pinged both computers to each other. It worked perfectly with 0% loss. Then, I went to the windows 98 computer, went to the control panel, clicked on internet settings, clicked on the connections tab, clicked on LAN settings, and checked the "Use a proxy server" check box (No other check boxes were checked). Then I typed in the IP address of the XP computer, and the prot number (6588). After that, I opened Internet Explorer to run the interet on my windows 98 computer, but an error message pops up saying that explorer has perfromed an illegal operation and will shut down. At that point, the browser closes, and I'm not able to use the internet from my win 98 computer. In some cases, the browser says that the server cannot be found. I've tried changing the settings to Netscape, but like IE, it won't work! Somebody help me. - YMP Young-Min |

Fire up the help tool in XP, then search for "Internet Connection Sharing".
Lots more there than I can type. :-) -- Richard G. Harper (MVP Win9x) (E-Mail Removed) * PLEASE post all messages and replies to the newsgroup so all may * benefit from the discussion.
