Microsoft does not support the DLC protocol in Windows Server 2003 und Windows XP:
DLC Protocol Is Not Available in Windows XP "The DLC protocol is a non-routable protocol... Support for the Data Link Control (DLC) protocol has been discontinued in Windows XP [and in Windows Server 2003]. This protocol is not available to install" http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;306037 But Microsoft offers an unofficial DLC-Treiber for operation with SNA-servers: DLC Protocol for Windows XP "This DLC protocol is provided as is and is intended to be used only with Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 family operating systems." http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en The files in this package are identical to the Microsoft-DLC-modules contained in Windows 2000. But unfortunately the package does not contain the HP-DLC-modules of Windows 2000 that are necessary to drive older HP DLC print servers. Because we still have a lot of these print serves in perfect operation with Windows 2000, I tried to use the HP-DLLs of Windows 2000 with Windows 2003 as well and did not run into problems. So I complemented the unofficial DLC-package from Microsoft for my own purposes so that now again all necessary modules to run HP printer servers are contained, I also adjusted the installation routine accordingly. Who also is interested in this complete DLC protocol package for Windows 2003 and XP can write me and receive the files via email. I prepared two versions (English and German), the English version should run on other languages (e.g. French) as well. Of course you use the software at your own risk and there is no support from Microsoft or HP. Best regards (E-Mail Removed) Kai Fiebach |
