Default network problem: windows server 2003 and windows 98

Hi,
I have recently upgraded to Server 2003 from NT. I have a
network of about 5 workstations, all running on 98.
Apologies for the lack of appropriate computer
terminology, but my problem is as follows: I am having
trouble with network access. Initially I can log on to
the network. The following problems happen intermitently
and without pattern (consistent only in being incredibly
frustrating!)When I open a program that requires to
communicate across the network, the program opens and
then regulary crashes stating that it can't find the
network component of the program (database). I then log
out, log on, start program, crash, log out, log on....and
so on, until finally and with no other change, it works.
The network connection is then fine for the rest of the
day, and then we go through the same problem the next
morning (regardless of whether the workstation is left on
or not). At any stage of the day, searching through the
Network Neighbourhood, Entire Network causes the same
crash - with the error that the computer is unable to
browse the network, the network is not accessible and to
look for more info in the 'Network Troubleshooter'.

Has anyone come across this before or know what the
problem is?

I would appreciate any assistance and advice.
Thank you,
Marcus

Run a WINS Server on the DC.

Be sure the 98 clients have the WINS Server in their settings.

Make sure Netbios over TCP/IP is enabled on everything.
