System stops running since installing wireless network

I installed a 802.11b wireless USB adapater on my older
desktop running win 98 with no problem. Changed the SSID
to the same as my laptop and was able to make a connection
to the internet through the new router. Then it locked up
and now everytime I reboot it keeps locking up. It seems
to freeze up right after the wireless icon appears in the
lower right corner. Any suggestions?

Try to update the Wireless NIC drivers & Configuration utility that came
with the USB adapter.
