system freeze when networking wireless

Hello all. i am a new to linux

recently i bought a new computer. MSI M645 with intel centrino inside
i have 1GB of ram. i installed openSUSE 10.0. I use KDE as m
envierment. after alot of time and sweat (linux newbie) i hav
installed "ipw-firmware-5-6 RPM for noarch" and gain wireles
connection

but now a every time, a few min after the connection, and useing th
internet browser, the systeam freeze and stuck. any idea's how to solv
it

P.S it happens with mandriva as well

With so many informations is kind-of difficult to say. I'd go out on
a limb here and say that you've a bug in the wireless driver, and maybe
you should try update it or get the sources and compile it yourself.

According to the manufacturer's website, the wifi card in that model is an Intel ipw2200. Since
Linux kernel 2.6.13, which is the version used by SuSE 10.0, there have been many changes in the
wireless subsystem and the ipw2200 driver. At a minimum, you should get and build the ipw2200
driver, as suggested by Davide. If your skills are up to it, you might try downloading and building
the latest stable kernel (2.6.16.14 when this was written).
