I have a desktop running XP Pro and a Laptop running the Home Edition. They
are connected via a NetGear Router with a LAN cable to Desktop and Wireless
Connection to Laptop. I can ping from all to all and print using a shared
printer connected to the desktop from the laptop. I can see shared files from
the Desktop on the Laptop but can the other way round. I've tried the
IRPStackSize fix. I've turned off the firewall on the desktop and made the
logins on both machines have exactly the same user name and password (I've
been reading many previous posts!). Typing net view (from the cmd line) of
the laptop with the desktop IP or Name gives System Error 5 Access Denied. Oh
Yes I have enabled shared files on the Desktop - I have a folder with a hand
under it anyway. I've also rebooted after changing the registry - originally
there was no IRPStackSize entry. Please Help as I'm getting tired having been
at this all day! - Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi, Just after posting the question I found the answer - yet another registry
change required on the desktop (XP pro)...
To run the registry editor: Start->Run type in regedit.exe and click OK.
Next open the paths for:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/lsa
In the right hand window you'll see restrictanonymous if this isn't 0 then
double click it and change the 1 to a 0. Close regedit and reboot.

I found this elsewhere in these posts but I'm afraid I can't find the
original again - it was posted about june 2005. So Thanks to that person and
I hope someone else will find this useful.
