I am looking for a tool/process which can be used to sync users between four
windows Server 2003 computers. All of these servers are in a workgroup
environment. Moving to a domain is not an option.

Simply manually create identical user accounts with identical passwords on
all four machines. If you have 5 users, create a user acount for all 5 on
the four servers. This way they can access it using their currently logged
on account.

Other than that, I am not aware of a 3rd party tool. Maybe someone else can
better assist.

Thanks you Ace for your time on this one.

The intension is to sync these users between servers, so that any change to
the user account is reflected in other servers also...for example if the
account password is change on one of the servers the same needs to be synched
to the other servers as well..like wise the accounts status/properties etc.

Regards
Vish

If you want that functionality, you really need to install & configure AD.
That's what it does. Not sure why moving to a domain isn't an option, but if
you have more than a small handful of users/workstations/servers a workgroup
is not a very viable option.

Rather than get into all that mess, I would just directly challenge the idea
that a "domain is not an option".

The domain is an option. There isn't going to be any technical reason that
it cannot be done.

Vish,

I FULLY understand your intentions and what you are seeking, and I provided
the only way possible that I'm aware of to administer machine user accounts
that are not part of a domain.

Why is a domain not an option?

Ace
