Synchronize computers

I want to synchronize my laptop with my desktop-cum-server.

In the tools menu there is a syschronise option but,
although in theory you can use it for files and folders,
it only seems to work for my offline web pages.

How can I use it on files and folders?

You can kind of synchronise using briefcases.
