Synchonizing files - Windows XP connected to Win2k3?

I have no idea what is going on but a person in a remote office (seperate
domain) said they weren't seeing the files in the shared drive on their file
server. They said the drive was "offline". When they flushed their
network and logged in it said synchronizing. This is a PC that has never
left that office. The next time I'm out there, what should I check? We
don't do any offline or synchronization so I have no idea what settings
changed.

Thanks
