Hello,

Symantec SystemWroks 2004 stopped my Win98se network.

I have a small peer-to-peer network with some 4 computers attached.
They are linked through a switch and connect to the Internet via a cable/DSL
box. Everything was working just fin; each computer could see the others
and share resources. Then I installed SystemWorks 2004 and ... B A N G ...
no more seeing the other computers. Yes, each could still see the Internet.

What should I be looking for to fix this and still run NSW2004?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

John

Disable the built-in firewall to re-enable the network, then check your
Symantec documentation for instructions on enabling the firewall so it will
allow network access.

Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to give me a little help with NSW2004
Professional.

But I am still having difficulties. You see, I didn't know NSW2004
came with a built in firewall. And ... I have looked all over for it on the
computer and looked for info in their "User's Guide" (book that came with
the CD) to no avail.

I guess I'll have to pay Symantec the $25.00 for telephone help. You
see, I have also been all over their web sight and I have not found a clue
as to what needs to be done to see the other computers on my little
peer-to-peer network.

Thanks,

John

Whoops, my bad; apparently that package does NOT contain the firewall
software. I thought it did, I apologize for the bum steer. However, I fear
the cure is probably still either to remove the NSW software or to consult
with them for a solution.

Did Norton turn off "File Sharing" for you?

Can you find them by putting their address in the address bar in
Windows explorer? Using back slashes-> \\192.168.0.x or what
ever addresses you're using.
