Switching between wireless and wired

Is there any software out there to eaily facilitate the switching
between wireless connections and wired connection without having to
resort to a reconfigure and possible system restart?

The problem is that the wireless access point I am using has enough
range to extend to the point in the house where I can access the
network directly via the NIC card. Hence, when the laptop is plugged
in directly to the network at 100MBps, the wireless is also connected
at 11MBps. All transfers are slowed unless the wireless connection is
disabled. Not a very elegant solution. Sureley there must be a
workaround to this.

Thanks Aaron, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for. It's a shame
it's not something that one can get to using the properties of an
individual network connection. I'd have never even thought to go to
the advance tab had you not directed me there. Thanks a ton...
