Switch connections

Hello,

I'm not sure to be in the right ng, if not please point me to a proper one.

My question is:
I've got 3 Linksys Etherfast II 10/100 switches to create a network.
One is a 16-port and two are 24-port. Router is connected to a T1. I was
thinking to connect to switch 1:
- the router
- switch 2
- switch 3
- my server
- some important devices (network printers)
and then connect all computers to switch 2 and 3

I need an opinion about this configuration and also know if choosing a port
or another matters.

thanks
N! Xau

Assuming all the switches are 10/100, it sounds just fine to me. As
good as most other configurations anyway. If there are particular
features that exist in one of the switches, but not the other two, then
you may want to weigh the options in your selection of which particular
switch you use where, but otherwise, go with your idea.

Does the port replenishment order matter?
I mean, having the server and/or the other two switches in the first 3 or in
the last 3 ports of the 1st switch can change the speedness of the system?

thanks

Not if the switches are capable of doing line rate for all of thier ports.

This looks good. If these switches have dedicated uplink ports you should
use those rather than the regular ports, as these are often faster and
won't use up your regular ports.
